"An Evening in Margaritaville in Sayville" sayville.com - 8/18/2009

On August 14th, it was all about: bringing your family, meeting your friends, listening to great music and having fun on a Friday night! Put together by the Sayville Chamber, Margaritaville was another awesome event representing Sayville and its ability to attract hundreds of people in one spot. Yet another great effort from the Chamber of Commerce members to bring business to Sayville during trying times. This time the party took place in the parking lot behind South Main Street. The closed in parking lot was filled with beach chairs, tables, beach towels and dancing happy people in Grass skirts and Caribbean shirts. The stores on South Main were open late that night and the restaurants within walking distance had irresistible deals to offer on their menus. Ok, so maybe the Jimmy Buffet music performed by Ed Travers had more to do with the number of people gathered in a parking lot but someone had to put the event together. Nathan King of Lealand Eve (on South Main Street) started planning this affair about 4 month ago with the help of seasoned event planners Jacquee Gustafson (Sayville General Store) and Richard De Clemente (De Clemente Media & Promotions). Everybody involved in engineering this undertaking did a great job. About 3,000 Parrotheads came to Sayville that evening! The tunes were brought by Ed Travers and his band: Dave March, Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals; Irv Berner, Electric Guitar, Backing Vocals; Dave Cobb, Drums Extraordinaire; Robbie Deloney, Percussion.
